the NDMA is headed by the prime minister. while the state disaster management authority are headed by their respective chief minister. the NDMA is created to drive and implement a holistic and integrated approach to disaster management.

In case of a disaster, an authority has been established at the government level. This authority is known as Disaster Management Authority. Disaster Management Act had been passed in India in 2005.

The establishments are:

1. National Disaster Management Authority. Chairman: Prime Minister

2. State Disaster Management Authority. Chairman: Chief Minister

3. District Disaster Management Authority. Chairman: Collector

4. Taluka Disaster Management Authority. Chairman: Tahsildar

5. Village level committee. Chairman: Sarpanch
