1.Epithelial tissues are widespread throughout the body.
2.They form the covering of all body surfaces, line body cavities and hollow organs, and are the major tissue in glands. ..
3. Simple cuboidal epithelium is found in glandular tissue and in the kidney tubules. Simple columnar epithelium lines the stomach and intestines.

Epithelial tissue forms the outer covering of body, lining of internal organs and is also called covering tissue.

■ General Structure : The epithelium cells are tightly packed without any intercellular spaces. They rest upon basement membrane formed of collagen fibres. Nerve cells and blood vessels are abscent.

■ Function :-

● Protection : They protect the underlying cells of body parts from mechanical injury.

● Covering : It covers body and prevent entery of germs.

● Diffusion : It helps in diffusion of gases through it.

● Their cells help in absrobtion, secretion, and excretions.

● The ciliated epithelium helps in movemenet of : water, minerals, food products and zygote, ovum to uterus.

● It also helps in removal of unwanted particals from trachea.

● Regeneration : It is regenerative in nature and facilitates faster healing.
