In a mountainous area, due to sudden and torrential rainfall, the water cannot channelise itself into the rivers so fast, hence flow down the slope of the mountain in tremendous speed and amount for same time. This is known as a Flash flood. This can destroy much life and property due to its sudden occurrence.
