Answer :
Friedal Craft Alkylation Reaction -
The process of substituting alkyl group over benzene ring by treatment of Benzene with Alkyl Halide in presence of lewis acid are known as friedal craft alkylation reaction.
Benzene + Alkyl Halide Alkyl Benzene + Hydrochloric Acid
Mechanism -
Mechanism of above reaction takes place in following three steps :
1. In this step the generation of electrophile takes place.
2. In second step, electrophile attacks over benzene ring to give a resonance stabilized carbocation.
3. In this step, resonance stabilized carbocation looses proton to give final product.
