Heart is an organ which functions like a pump to transport blood. It beats continuously. Heart is present in thoracic cavity. Size of Heart is approx equal to fist. Human heart is divided into four chambers. The upper two chambers are called auricles and the lower two chambers are called ventricles. The division present between the chamber is called septum. Septum prevents the mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. Heart contracts and expands respectively and thus the blood is pumped into the vessels.

The heart is a muscular organ in most animals, which pumps blood through the blood vessels of the circulatory system. Blood provides the body with oxygen and nutrients, as well as assisting in the removal of metabolic wastes. In humans, the heart is located between the lungs, in the middle compartment of the chest

The heart can be found at the center of the chest, underneath the sternum in a thoracic compartment. It is made up of four chambers and several valves that regulate the normal flow of blood within the body.

Two chambers called atria are located in the upper portion of the heart and receive oxygen-free blood. The valves that separate these chambers are called atrioventricular valves which is composed of the tricuspidvalve on the left and the mitral valve on the right.

On the other hand, ventricles are chambers found on the lower portion of the heart; they pump oxygen-enriched blood into all organs of the body, reaching even the smallest cells. Similar to the atria, the ventricular chambers are also separated by valves. Collectively-termed as semilunar valves, these are comprised of the pulmonary and aortic valve.
