Note on Hiawantha Poem;
the meaning of hiawantha is a Native American chieftain who argued for peace with the European settlers.In this poem, Hiawatha was a very young Red Indian boy. He loved all the animals and birds equally. He lived with his old grandmother in a wigwam. He used to listen to the stories of stars, trees, insects, birds and animals. The old grand mother of Hiawantha was Nokomis. Hiawantha had learned about the language of every single bird. He learnt many things from the beast. He learnt their names, how the beavers built their lodges, how the squirrels hid their acorns, how the reindeer ran swiftly and how the rabbit was so timid.
Hiawatha was a Mohawk Indian chief or the leader of the Onondaga tribe depending on the source. He is attributed with having joined together five tribes to form the Iroquois Confederacy. ... Because Hiawatha was a great speaker, the prophet enlisted Hiawatha's aid, and he healed Hiawatha of his pain.
