Fertilizers generally don't get washed off through irrigation,rainfall as drainage, and pollute rivers,lakes,streams(causing toxicity, algal bloom, eutrophication)and disturbing ecosystem.The water of these water bodies become unfit for human use and consumption and even kills the aquatic animals such as fishes. So, chemical fertilizers must be put care fully and judiciously.
