Observing the unity of muslims, Mahatma Gandhi called off agitation and ordered hindus to unite with muslims and siad that hindu will be supporting muslims each and every plan they are working against Bristish peoples.And start a trity of Hindu-Muslim unity.This worked in first stage,and further it changed in the violence, so mahatma gandhi stop the working plan of muslims or THE KHILAFAT MOVEMENT whic was against bristish

Its purpose was to pressure the British government to preserve the authority of the Ottoman Sultan as Caliph of Islam following the breakup of the Ottoman Empire at the end of the war.
