it is march which is started by gandhi ji for sabarmati ashram to dandi. They travelled 240miles in 24 days.each day travelled 10 miles.their main aim is to teach the people salt can be prepare from the sea water.

in 1930,Gandhiji declared that he would lead to march to break the salt law. Gandhiji n his followers marched for over 240 miles from Sabarmati to the coastal town of Dandi where they broke the govt. law by gathering natural salt found on the seashore n boiling sea water to produce salt. the govt. tried to crush the movement through brutal action against peaceful Satyagrahis. thousands were send to jail
