masulipatnam was not under the British rule is situated in Andhra Pradesh. it derives its name from the gateway to the town which is decorated with the eyes of a fish. it is located on the Coromandel coast of India near the mouth of river Krishna this town was a famous port town during the rule of satavahanas in 3rd Century BCE. masulipatnam was extremely famous for its carpet weaving industry and its Kalamkari textile these Textiles where dyes and painted using vegetables dyes.
