- Mendeleev's periodic law states that physical and chemical properties of elements are periodic function of their atomic masses.

- He arranged the elements in increasing order of their atomic masses and was the first person to give all the elements known at that time.

- The zero period was not discovered at that time. Mendeleev's periodic table had 63 elements.

- He also left some spaces in the periodic table so that the elements can be placed which would be discovered later on.
