In India, the real founder of the Muslim Empire was the star of the Shihad-ud-Din Muhammad Gouri or Muhammad.
It is true that Muhammad bin Qusim was the first Muslim invader of India but he failed to present a Muslim empire in India due to his earlier death.
Mahmud also failed to establish a Muslim empire in India and the only permanent effect of his invasions was the capture of Punjab.
