short note on Pakistan's seismotectonic zone
Answers
Answer:
The high seismic activity demands the preparation of seismic zoning map for planners to mitigate earthquake impacts on civil infrastructures and urban development in Pakistan. The available indigenous and international seismic zoning maps usually are prepared by methods using seismological data and surface geology. Such maps mislead in areas where seismicity is diffused in relation to surface geology. Therefore, an attempt has been made to analyze tectonic, deep structural and seismological data in addition to specific seismic force, deformation intensity of Earth crust and geophysical data to determine seismogeodynamical environment of hypocenter of earthquakes and attenuation of intensity proportional to depth and magnitude of earthquakes for preparation of a more appropriate seismic zone map of Pakistan.
