silk is obtained from an insect called silkworms (bombyx mori). a Silkworm is kept to lay eggs. The eggs are then kept in icubater for 20 days. Then they hatch and silkworms come out they are then made to feed on mulberry leaves. through this process they shed their skin four times. now they are ready to spin a cocoon. After building cocoon they are boiled to kill the insects inside then the silk is taken out and made into thin strands. these strands are joined together to make threads.
