the Indian desert lies towards the western margins of the aravali hills.it os an undulating sandy plain covered with sand dunes. thos region receives very low rainfall below 150mm per year . it has arid climate with low vegetation cover . streams appear during the rainy season

Thar desert is also known as Great Indian desert.
It extends beyond the Aravalli ranges in the west.
It covers over four states-Rajasthan,Punjab,Gujarat and Haryana.
This region experiences only little rainfall.
