1)Rapid combustion:the combustion in which a substance burns rapidly and produces heat and flame is called as rapid combustion.
2)Spontaneous combustion:the combustion in which the substance burns without any other residue or on its own due to the heat generated internally by rapid oxidation is called as spontaneous combustion.
3)Explosion:the combustion in which the substance burns and produces heat, light and sound is called as explosion

Types of Combustion
Combustion can be divided into three types:
- Rapid combustion
- Explosion, and
- Spontaneous combustion.
1. Rapid combustion: In this type of combustion, large amount of heat and light are released in a very short span of time.
2. Explosion: This type of combustion is characterized by sudden release of heat, light, and sound accompanied by the liberation of a large amount of gas.
3. Spontaneous combustion: In this type of combustion, substances catch fire on their own, without the application of heat.
