UEE is the short form of Universalisation of Elementary Education. It is one of the most significant goals of the Indian government after independence. It brings socio - economic and political development in any society.
The Indian Constitution has emphasized on a child's right to education in Article 45 under the Directive Principles of State Policy. According to the Article, the State should provide free and compulsory education to every child till the age of 14 years.
But this endeavor of the government has not been completely successful due to the following reasons:-
1) Some children do not get enrolled.
2) Some children drop out of school.
3) Some children do not make any progress.
4) The problem of child labour.
5) Parents' ignorance towards education, especially towards education of the girl child.
6) Poor family condition.
7) Lack of provision of basic infrastructure.
8) Lack of female teachers.
UEE is the short process in which primary schooling is universalized.
