uncle podger was narrator's uncle. he was a man of strange nature. he kept himself busy. uncle podger used to create much chaos whenever he took up a task, but did practically nothing at all. in the novel, jim narrates an incident of uncle podger. once he was to hang a picture, a task so easy and simple, but he involved all the members of the family. he lifted the picture, dropped it and cut his finger in the process. he kept shouting at everybody and made a commotion. he made everything Topsy turvy and completed his task only by midnight, even after creating much about nothing.
