Vasco Da Gama: he was a portuguese navigator .in the year 1498,he sailed through cape of good hope and reached Calicut in India.this was the first successful attempt of europian sailors to reach india by sea route .thus  a direct sea route to india was discovered by vasco da gama.
 
christopher columbus: he was an italian explorer.he travelled 4000 miles  in Alantic towards the west he reached some islands and believed that he reached India. he named them as west indies.this exploration led to the discovery of america. in course of time.
