The practise of sati and prohibition of widow remarriage is very usual from the early time. They believe the death of the husband is n her shoulders, she brought ill luck with her. The situation was even so worse that they have to go through the practice of sati where women burn herself alive. William bentick abolished this practise in year Dec 1927. That means this practice is prevailed in India for more that 2000 years
