An electric bulb uses heat caused by electric current when electric current passes through a electric wire, it causes the wire to heat, the wire gets so hot that it glows and gives off light. the wire is made of tungsten. since the hot tungsten would quickly burn away if it were exposed to oxygen, so it is placed in a sealed glass bulb which is filled with a gas that wont let it burn.
