The Wurtz reaction, named after Charles-Adolphe Wurtz, is a coupling reaction inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistryand recently inorganic main group polymers, whereby two alkyl halides are reacted withsodium metal in dry ethereal solution to form a higher alkane:

When an alkyl halide on treatment with sodium metal in dry ether give higher alkanes this is an process of wurtz Reaction.
