They are named inner planets because their orbit is closest to the sun ☀ ....For the starters the inner planets are rocky and terrestrial composed mostly of silicates and metals. These planets are also called Terrestrial planets because they are similar to Earth. All the inner planets are small as compared to outer planets. These planets are densed.
