the Chauri Chauri incident took place in Gorakhpur district of United Provinces in 1922 in which an angry mob set a police station on fire in which 22 polocemen were burnt to death.This incident had a great impact on Gandhiji and he decided to withdraw his mass movement as he was against violence.
