Dhondiya Wagh is an Indian soldier who served in Indian ruler Tipu’s imperial Army back in around 1800’s. Apart from the above identity as a soldier there is another dirty identity for him among the British like military adventurer and plunderer.

He was a feudal lord and prominent follower of Tipu but ended up to rot in jail right after the death of Tipu Sultan in the Forth Anglo-Mysore War. Somehow, he made out from the jail while everyone of their inmates were at a nap and eventually took control of Northern Mysore with a mighty force that comprises the soldiers of former Mysore Army.

He literally rose up against the British right after escaping from the jail and boosted the Britishers’ rage through his tongue lashes. When the governor general sir Arthur Wellesley ordered to hang him or catch him dead or alive he fled from the Northern Mysore. Finally he met his end in the hands of Wellesley at the age of sixty.
