- ASEAN's primary objective was to accelerate economic growth and through that social progress and cultural development. A secondary objective was to promote regional peace and stability based on the rule of law and the principle of United Nations charter. With some of the fastest growing economies in the world, ASEAN has broadened its objective beyond the economic and social spheres. In 2003, ASEAN moved along the path of the European Union by agreeing to establish an ASEAN community comprising three pillars

- ASEAN - Association of South East Asian nations.
- ASEAN was established in 1967 by the countries of this region (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand).
- The objectives of ASEAN were primarily to accerlate economic growth and social progress and cultural development.
- A secondary objective was promote regional peace and stability (principle of the United nations of charter and rules of laws).
- Lao PDR , Myanmar Burma and Cambodia joined ASEAN by taking strength to ten.
- ASEAN countries have celebrated what become as "ASEAN way".
- The ASEAN security community was based on the conviction because of that outstanding terrorist disputes should not be escalate into armed confrontation.
- The ASEAN regional forum (ARF) established in 1994.
- The ASEAN was and still remains principally an economic association
- ASEAN is rapidly growing into a very important regional organisation.
- The ASEAN- India FTA came into effect in 2010.
(2) UNO :
- UNO - United national organisation.
- UNO was founded after the world War 2 on 24th October 1945.
- The principal alied countries like Britain, France, USA, USSR and China drafted a charter of the formation of the UNO.
- The UN started thus with a twin objective of ensuring lasting peace and human development.
- The UN works through six different organs.
- Each of these organs has specific functions like maintaining peace and security, improving education and health facilities, alleviating proverty , providing justice in the context of international crime and so on.
- Some bodies responsible for these functions include international court of justice located in Hague, world health organisation (WHO) located at Geneva, the United nations education, scientific and cultural organisation functioning from Paris, and United nations children's fund functioning from new York.
- The general assembly is main body where regular discussions between takes nations place.
- Decisions relating to the war and peace taken in the security council and five nations have special status.
- Five nations are China , France, UK, USSR and USA.
- These is known as permanent members of the security council.
(3) NAM :
- NAM - Non alignment movement
- The non alignment moved was established as an international organisation with an aim to promote cultural and economic cooperation among the newly independent countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
- In 1950 s , the world was getting increasingly militarised and divided into two antagonisted camps.
- It was the first Asio - African. conference represented by 29 nations.
- The most important leaders of this conference were pandit jawaharal nehru , then prime Minister of India, gamel Abdul naseer, the leader of Egypt and Josip broz tito , the leader of Yugoslavia, pt nehru was acknowledged as the chief spokeperson
- It paved the way for non alignment movement .
- The first summit was the cumulation of three major concerns.
- First - Cooperation among the member nation of NAM , most of them newly emerged as free countries.
- Second - Growing cold war tensions and its impacts on the world large.
- Third - To prevent any of the newly decolinsed independent countries from joining any of the military blocks.
- The NAM helped countries like India to take an independent position where two super powers fell apart and pulled countries to their side.
- It also helped to ease tensions among the NAM countries.
- The NAM helped the newly independent nations asserts their antonmy in international affairs in a world torn between the two super powers.
- Another weakness of NAM was inability to effectively stop its own members from waging wars against each other.
