The radcliffe line was the boundary demarcation line between the India and Pakistani portion of the Punjab and Bengal provinces of british India . It was named after its architect Sir Cyril Radcliffe who was the joint chairman of the two boundary commissions for the two provinces recieved the responsibility to equitably divide 175000 square miles of territory with 88 million people . The demarcation line was published on 17 august 1947 upon the partition on India
