Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was a great freedom fighter, a born leader, an idealist and a man of action. He sacrificed himself for the freedom of his country
His childhood and education: Subhash Chandra Bose was born in Cuttack on January 23, 1897. He matriculated from an Indian school. For further studies, he joined the Presidency College, Calcutta (now Kolkata).Subhash Chandra graduated in 1919 with first class Honors in Philosophy. In addition, was sent to England to compete in the Indian Civil Service examination. He stood fourth and was taken in the service. He resigned from service and decided to serve the motherland.
Political Career: He was elected twice as the president of Congress in 1938 and 1939. However, he resigned from the post and formed the Forward Bloc in 1939.
Bose managed to escape the close vigilance of British. Thereafter, he passed through Afghanistan, reached Rome and from there he went to Germany. Hitler promised him every support. This enabled him to organize a national army in Berlin.
Indian National Army (INA): Netaji came from Berlin to Japan and then went to Singapore. He now organized the well known Indian National Army or I.N.A. It is popularly known as Azad Hind Fauj.
Story of his death: Indians were horrified to hear the news that he died by an air-crash on 18th August, 1945. However, many of his compatriots did not believe the news. They expected his return to his beloved Motherland that had a great need of him.
Conclusion: Subhash Chandra Bose openly declared, “Give me blood and I will give you freedom.” With all our fellow citizens, let us utter his ever memorable magic cry – Jai Hind.
