The poem The Night of Scorpion is written by Nissim Ezekiel, he is the famous poet , he shared with us from his some personal account of childhood memory.

.
........When his mother was stung by a scorpion. This poem is represented a typical Indian atmosphere and the Indian Ethos. Neighbours rush in on hearing the news. They try to help by chanting the name of the god. The pain and suffering is proportional to the sun of the previous birth and would reduce the ordeals of next birth. they believe desire and ambition is the root of all suffering

.
............After her pain is reduced, his mother was too happy, and said that, Thank god that Scorpion stung me and spared my child. She is portrayed as a epitome of selfless love for their child.

.
My favorite line in this poem was "THANK GOD, SCORPION PICKED ME AND SPARED MY CHILDREAN!! "....

.
.
The poet decorated the poem with some FIGURES OF SPEECH., which is SIMILE, ONOMATOPOEIA , ALLITRATION and REPETITION.

There is an element of irony involved in the attitude of the spectic father resorting to superstitious..

.
What appeals me to in the poem in the selfless love of the Mother which is the strongest and the special feature of the poem...
.
therefore I like this poem very much, it's very beautiful to read.
