Pollution is the addition of harmful contaminants in the atmosphere that causes a lot of problems and brings about adverse change in the atmosphere.



Pollution disrupts the ecological balance of nature, leading to the degradation of the environment. There are different ways in the which environment gets degraded. Some of them include :



➡️ Air pollution :- It occurs when smoke from factories and industries are released directly into the atmosphere and the harmful gases like : Nitrogen, Carbon dioxide, Sulphur and Carbon Monoxide gets mixed up in the atmosphere making it difficult to breathe in. It lowers the Oxygen content in the atmosphere and hence, makes it difficult for aquatic animals to breathe in.



The higher Carbon dioxide content in air increases the greenhouse effect, leading to global warming.




➡️ Water pollution. The addition of industrial effluents into the rivers make water toxicated, and hence, harmful for drinking. The three main substances that pollute water
include : nitrates from fertilizers, sewage and detergents.


Human activities like bathing and washing by the Riverside adversely affect the aquatic life by adding nitrates to water and can lead to adverse diseases like Cancer.



➡️ Soil pollution. Soil pollution is caused when man-made hydrocarbons, heavy metals, and solvents, dissolve into the soil. These chemicals come from industrial activities and from improper waste disposal.


Soil pollution can cause disastrous risks. These chemicals can produce harmful vapours, and can contaminate water supply below the polluted soil.
