Karna was a kshayriya ....he presented himself as a Brahmana to Parasurama and learned the use of master weapon Brahmastra....once when parasurama was reclining under the tree a scorpion bit karna but he didnt move so as his masters sleep should not be disturbed....when parasurama woke up he knew at once that karna is not a Brahmin as only Kshatriya can bare such pain

He cursed Karna that he wont be able to use the invocatory mantra at the time he most needed it to save his life....
