In the story Dear Departed, Amelia Slater and Elizabeth Slater are two daughters of Abel Merryweather. They both were very greedy and they didn't bother about the their father but the property he had. Victoria Slater was very dear to Mr Merryweather.who was the daughter of Amelia and Henry Slater. Once the slaters thought that grandfather was dead and they called Ben and Elizabeth for the division of the property. At the last they discover that grandfather wasn't dead rather was sleeping due to headache. Then he decides to teach a lesson to both the sisters and he decides to do three things on Monday next. The three things are given on the page no. 153.

The story dear departed Now Adays relationships between the parents and children the two daughters of old man were shown their interest on the things that in the house and with out looking at the and they are interested in discussing property s of their father .so in this way Now Adays people are more interested in property s and has forgotten the relationship s and values
