Time flies and with that Bholi becomes a young woman who is educated; unlike her sisters. Because of her ugly looks and a pockmarked face, her father agrees to marry her off to a person who is double her age. Bholi agrees with her parents’ decision. But when the bridegroom arrives he demands a hefty dowry to marry her. Her father somehow manages that money. Bholi is aghast at this development and decides to rebel against all. She decides to spend the rest of her life serving her parents and teaching in school.

The story named 'Bholi' is about a girl named 'Bholi'. The real name of this girl was Sulekha. Everyone used to call her Boli.
Bholi was suffering from mental problem and used to stammer while speaking. Apart from this, she had also got smallpox disease, due to which smallpox marks were left on her face. She used to look ugly so people used to make fun of her.
Her father's name was Ramlal and she had a total of 7 siblings. Bholi had three brothers and three sisters. Only Bholi had the most mental and physical problems. Her three brothers and three sisters were physically fit.
One day the Tehsildar came to inaugurate the primary school in the village and asked Ramlal to send his daughter to the school. When Bholi came to know about sending her to school, she was scared at first but later agreed to go to school. She was very happy to see girls of her age in school and wanted to make them her friends. On the first day when the teacher asked her name and she stuttered while speaking, all the girls laughed. Because of this she felt extremely embarrassed and cried.
Her teacher was a kind lady so she encouraged her and told her that she can overcome her stuttering. This raised a hope in Holi's mind and inspired her to move forward.
Time passes, Bholi grows up and her marriage is arranged to an old man. But when the old man sees her ugly face in marriage, he refuses to marry and proposes to marry only after taking dowry.
But Bholi refuses to marry such a greedy man and everyone is surprised when she starts speaking without stammering. At last Bholi tells her parents that she will not marry and will serve her parents and teach in the school where she learned everything.
