In the part 1 of Gulliver’s travels, he embarks his journey as a surgeon on a merchant ship where his entire crew succumbs to death due to a heavy windstorm and he is the only one who survives and makes it to the island of Lilliput.

While he sleeps being tired from the ordeal, he is taken as captive by the inhabitants of Lilliput, no larger than six inches.

After providing him food and keeping him under observation, the emperor provides him with a residence at a temple in town.
