In recent times, patriotism has been hugely diluted with religion by political parties to gain/maintain power. This has led to the propagation of nationalism.

Patriotism, on the other hand, suggests a feeling of belonging and pride for our parent nation. Patriotism promotes the value of peace rather than internal discomfort. Patriotism promotes generosity and kindness towards people from other sects, religion etc. residing in our country.
