The kid revolves around the central characters of a woman who has become a mother, a policeman, a man and a tramp.
In the story, the poor mother loses her child after placing him in a limousine, with the thought that the rich owner would take good care of him.
The limousine is however stolen by thieves, who abandon the baby.
Charlie finds the baby and takes care of him.
After 5 long years with Charlie, the boy one day falls sick, and the doctor attending tries to send him to the county hospital as Charlie is not the father.
Charlie however prevents the attempt of taking the child away from him and tries to escape with him from the policemen.
During this, the mother finds out that this is in fact her long lost child, and takes in both Charlie and the child.
