Oliver Twist by Charles is a story about an orphan boy Oliver. When one night Oliver asks for a second helping of gruel, for this he is sent as an apprentice to an under-taker. When he is unable to bear the mistreatment he runs away from there and heads London. In the presence of Artful Dodger, he learns about the other boys with him as trained pick-pockets. When boys take the handkerchief from Mr Brownlow, Oliver runs away from there in confusion and is misunderstood to be the thief. However, when he learns about Oliver he feels sorry for him.
As Oliver escapes, Nancy who is one of Fa-gin man's mistress takes Oliver from Mr. Brownlow. Oliver again is sent on a Bulgary mission and is shot on an arm and is made to stay at the Maylies family. Fa-gin plans to get the Oliver out. However, Rose Maylie talks to Mr Brown-low to talk to Nancy in order to explain the plan made by the Monk and Fa-gin. The news of betrayal by Nancy reaches the Sikes and is beaten till death. In the end, Oliver reunites with Mr Brownlow and is revealed that the monk is Oliver's half-brother.
