The poem is one of the five Lucy Poems written by William Wordsworth. This poem is about the death of a loved one. How does the poet feel when he thinks about her death?
The poet says that he is in deep sleep and he has no human fears i.e., losing property, belongings and life. Now he has no human fears so he has now attained peace in nature.
His loved one has now beyond the prison of life and has attained death. She does not feel the earthly time and earthly years have become timeless for her. Being immortal, she has no movement and energy. She neither does hear nor sees. She has now become the part of earth and is rolling with it. She is in her grave, covered with soil and is under the tree. Thus, the poet considers her to be in the lap of nature which is an ideal place.
