The Happy Prince is an ornamented statue situated high overlooking the city. He covered with gold, a sword with ruby and sapphires for eyes. The town is proud of it and admires the glow and beauty. Another character is a swallow, who arrives in the city with a group of swallows moving from one location to other.
One night swallow became tired and want to spend the night at the statue. As he was ready to sleep, water fell on him. These water were the tears from the Happy Prince who weeps when he sees the ugliness and misery of his city. He asks the little bird to help him to run errands by taking ornaments from his statue to poor people.
At last, the statue becomes dull and grey, swallow also gets close to his death because of cold. The bird dies, and the heart of the Prince broke into two pieces. Finally, the Angel took the swallow and the Prince heart to heaven.
