Should board exams be conducted term wise or annually?

I feel board exams should be conducted term-wise. Scientifically, breaking the syllabus into two terms is better as the students don’t have to face the burden of coping up with the stress of preparing the entire syllabus.  

As the syllabus is divided into two terms the syllabus topics get reduced. This gives students the opportunity to prepare the topics thoroughly. Annual board exams are more challenging and burdensome than the term exams. For these reasons terminal exams are much more popular among students and teachers than the annual ones.
