- First off, the idea seems a bit vague because we really don't know how many exoplanets or how many planets there are.
- We have sent the Voyager 1 and 2 to navigate the universe to see if any interesting observations can be noted.
- It is pretty wasteful because it'd take billions of years for a radio signal to be able to reach Earth, even if we sent one.
- And provided that the radio signal can be detected by an intelligent being. Imagine if the living beings on another planet are just starting out to settle and hunt for food (like our forefathers who hunted and gathered). They would not be able to reciprocate the signal.
- Advanced quantum mechanics and photon communication systems must be utilized to send a particle at the speed greater than that of a sound wave.
- And we might not have funds for that if we keep fighting battles and wars amongst ourselves.
