Should drug addicts be sent to treatment rather than being sent to prison? That is my topic for a speech and i am lacking strong points.. could someone please help me? -current situation -why this is a bad idea (sending them to prisons) -what can we do instead and why?

Drug addiction is a major social problem. Drug is that thing which makes a person to follow criminal activities. so, all countries make it a crime. In some countries, death penalty is given for person supplying drugs. So, if a person not being sent to prison, this crime spread more.
