Should girls cook during menstrual ​

Certain Hindu communities prohibit women from entering the kitchen and thus cooking while on their period.

Traditionally it was believed that a women needed rest from the housework and thus was prohibited from doing any work during those few days of the month. Somehow from then till now people started misunderstanding and believed that women were ‘impure’ while on their period and shouldn't cook, since daily food was offered to the gods (called bhog or prasad).

Thankfully this is not as common now.
