Should girls cook during menstrual days or not? Why?

Answer:

A girl, after she reaches puberty is barred from entering the prayer room or performing any religious prayers during her menstruation. The only reason mentioned in our scriptures is that she is (ashudha) unclean during that period.

During ancient days, women would take bath in the river, pond or near the well. During the time when the girl would be menstruating, it would be awkward to bathe outside in the river as it would probably ‘pollute’ the water.

So, the ladies did not take bath. Since the ladies did not take bath, they were naturally termed ‘unclean’ during that time. Hence, their being barred from the clean’ places in the house, namely the prayer room or the kitchen.

However, Science has a different meaning for the menstruation. As per science, a woman is more irritable during those days because of a hormonal imbalance. Psychics claim that there is a different aura around a menstruating woman, maybe again a chemical reaction.

Segregating to pray requires a positive attitude and people tend to respond to the negative vibrations of a person standing with you; maybe that was the reason why a woman was barred from public places of prayer during these days.❤️✨

Answer

As per ancient times, women were considered very unhygienic on those days of the month. They wouldn't allow women to bathe in the river so as to not pollute it, But, as per modern days, A woman needs to take bath and keep herself clean on those days otherwise she can get some sort of infection. Girls/women in those days weren't allowed to enter the kitchen, temples, some ladies were given a seperate hut to stay in. Whereas, If you see modern day ladies, they usually cook all the time for their husbands and children (except for many husbands who help their wife in cooking). No one really cares if she is in pain and is bleeding (except for those good souls/husbands). There is literally no problem for women to cook on those days, but if she is feeling tired and irritable and painful, you shouldn't force her at all. A woman can do whatever she wants and whenever she wants, and a topic like 'period shaming' shouldn't even exist.

Hope this answer helps and have a great day ahead buddy !!!
