=>Nope! people should not be superstitious.

=>The simplest reason is, superstitions are not backed by reason, logic, common sense or science. These are just a belief. The meaninglessness of superstitions is proven by the fact that these vary from group to group, from time to time. What one group holds, another doesn’t. There is no universality in superstitions.

Apparently superstitions help you, they make you cautious - you take care when an ill-omen is present, but in the long term it will make you highly constricted. You may even lose your initiative and fear of your actions going wrong will overwhelm your life.

Why superstitions are valued?

Because they obey the variable ratio reinforcement schedule. Say, a particular superstition you have comes true in your case randomly once in a while. You hold on to that “positive” proof and ignore all instances of negative proof. Just like in gambling, you hold on that single win and ignore all the losses.

=>This is a list of signs believed to be bring bad luck according to superstitions:

A black cat crossing one's path.

Walking under a ladder.

Certain numbers: ...

Friday the 13th (In Spain, Italy and Greece: Tuesday the 13th)

Failing to respond to a chain letter.

Tipping a salt shaker over.
