In both cases this is due to increased snowfall, also caused by climate change. Although it has been known for some time that glaciers are in retreat, this is the first time that such a large body of evidence has been brought together, and with such uniform results. The loss of ice will increase sea levels worldwide.

Answer:

Should Rivers be harnessed? In my point of view the answer is a big No.

Explanation:

Rivers are the natural medium of fresh water for the organisms on the planet. Harnessing them might look like a pretty genius thing but it may pose a great threat in the future. Dams are the biggest answer to the question how rivers can be harnessed. So, now, assume that all the glaciers around the world are about to melt down in next few weeks. Could you think that these dams has the capacity to hold them all? Rather than being useful it will lead to a catastrophe.

Harnessing rivers may change the regular habit of some organisms that are mostly depending on the rivers for their survival. Harnessing river may bring drastic changes to the ecosystem.
