should size of anion be bigger than cation?why?

the size of cations are bigger bcoz as they are name as cations they are metals...so in the peroid table metal are placed at left side so as we move left tl right the size decreases...

cations are positively charged and therefore attract electrons which require energy consumption.Due to this their size becomes small.


BUT


anions are negatively charged and therefore give electrons which does not require more energy so their size is larger than that of cations.
