Should the heating element of an electric iron be made of iron, silver or nichrome wire? Justify giving three reasons?

Nichrome wire should be used as the heating element in an electric iron. The reasons are mentioned below:

• High resistivity thus ensuring the wires to heat up faster.


• High melting point which does not melt the wire with thedue to an increase in temperature


• High specific heat which provide enough heat to the element.
