Should we add any new hypotheses? Change or eliminate any existing hypotheses?

Explanation:

1) Hank reviews the literature and can build a foundation for the new hypothesis, and (2) finds fresh data sets with which to test this new hypothesis, then he might have a viable, legitimate, and credible test to propose to his professor? It seems a loss (again, depending on context) if he might have noticed something valuable and is prevented from proving and sharing it, right? Thanks in advance - I'm also learning from this exchange :)

Answer:

Upon analysis of the results, a hypothesis can be rejected or modified, but it can never be proven to be correct 100 percent of the time.
