It is better to learn it because learning this formula will not be a loss rather learning the formula can make you to understand the concept of frustum properly.
Also, to score high marks or percentage in Class 10, it is important to clear the concept of every topics given in the NCERT book of all the subjects. The students may even prefer reference books like S Chand's books for science and R D Sharma's book for math.
